Does the library have CAC readers? (2024)

The library has two CAC readers available at both Johnson and Sturgis Libraries. They can be checked out by students for four hours, and are for in-library use only. Visit the Check Out Desk at either library to get a CAC reader.

What are CAC Readers?

CAC readers, or Common Access Card readers, are special card readers that are used formultifactor authentication to access military benefits websites and various Department of Defense websites. Students who are Reservists, active duty, veterans, etc. may use these to do things like training for their job and submitting their tuition assistance paperwork each semester.

I tried to access a website using a CAC reader and got an error. What should I do?

It is common to run into issues accessing websites using CAC readers due to errors caused by the downloadable certificates needed. Use the links below to get help downloading and troubleshooting the certificates. Also, use Google Chrome as your browser as it is the preferred browser for Department of Defense websites. If the links below are not helpful, contact UITS or the Military and Veterans Services Center.
